Sim Card Holder

Anybody had trouble with the sim card holder on their PCM unit? One morning I noticed it had released itself and refuses to go back into the closed position. Apart from making it impossible to use the phone it is really annoying in that it attracts your attention continually. Early enquiries indicate it may be necessary to change the whole PCM unit...hard to believe! Any advice much appreciated

My SIM holder has been fine so can't help there, but as an 04 car it's probably still under warranty so get it straight down to an OPC. If they have got to change the PCM unit that's going to be very expensive out of warranty.

Even a non C16 car (as long as it was sourced in Europe) should be covered by a 2 year warranty.

The two year warranty expired on my car in Sept. Would you know for a fact whether or not in-car entertainment /communication equipment is covered on the extended warranty? Is there an accurate list in existence of what isn't included in the extended warranty? Thanks for any help.

Although Porsche only have a two year warranty, they claim to be symathetic in year three (and sometimes beyond).

Why not put it to the test.

I will find out just how sympathetic they are early next week. I am still a bit rocked having been told that a non-functioning plastic tab, worth a few pence, can result in the changing of a complete PCM unit......seems like faulty spark plug/new engine sillyness!

I am sure there is a how to fix this on renntech or here somwhere. In the extended warrant booklet it says PCM is specifically EXCLUDED!!! [:(]

It is excluded from the warranty coverage per the specs. I managed to get them to replace my PCM2 for the same fault 6 months out of the warranty period, BUT they forced me to buy the new updated nav disks at ~£350 as "they are not covered" and when they replace the PCM2, it will have O/S 3.0 which is not back compatible with the pre v.3 mapping disks.

However, check out this link if you want to fix it for £25 and 2 hrs.....
