what is the best way to use phone in the 997? i want not have to take the sim card out of my phone all the time, my car system seems to work very well and i would like to use it more. i know this has been covered before but i cant find the details, hoping someone could point me in the right direction

I bought a 'pay as you go' sim for £10 which includes £10 worth of calls. I then merely divert my other mobile to it when I am expecting a call. Normally, however, I don't bother.

Of course the other solution is to either buy a blue tooth satnav or wait until the 997 facelift arrives later in the year as it will have a blue tooth facility.

i looked into this for ages, and even cloned a sim, but it just messes up when someone rings as it keep switching from phone to car and back whenever the signal changes.

i just bought a cheap pay as you go sim and i forward all my calls when in the car

I remember the other thread on this a while ago, Charlotte's suggestion was the general all round consensus..

Vodaphone and Orange do a 2nd SIM card for about £5 per month, which switches between which phone is turned on, the car is the main card, so calls go to that when its on.

I posted about this a while ago but can't find the thread.
I've got three sims, one each for the 997, Cayenne and mobile. Vodafone set up a mini-network and with handset short cut it is easy to switch between the three for incoming calls. Outgoing calls work on all three all the time. Have used this system for years and it works well.
Downside is that there is no discount payment plan that I'm aware of, but I'm not a big user and monthly bills come in at £45 - 50.

Orange 'Single Number' service costs £3 a month and works seamlessly, you don't have to divert any calls as all calls go to your car phone when your mobile is switched off. Or, you specify this to default to the car phone and calls then go to your handset when the car is not in use. Downside of this second option is that if someone else (wife, girlfriend, garage etc) uses your car, they'll receive all your calls. And I had problems receiving texts.

My current C2S came without the phone module so I hade the Nav-TV (Tooki) bluetooth module fitted - brilliant! Interfaces seamlessly with the PCM, keypad etc and is much better, in my opinion, that Porsche's own phone module.

cheers for the suggestions, have a parrot kit at home will get that fitted, had hoped to avoid this but the posts have confirmed my fears

Andrew, My Nav-TV bluetooth module was installed by Safe & Sound, Chester, for £587. He had the car for about 3 hours as the job requires the driver's seat to be removed and a lot of trim etc. Perfect job - not a mark on the car and the system works really well. Contact details are as follows (ask for Mark):
