Hi,previously asked the question but regarding widening the track to my square dash 85'.

I have just got hold of some turbo 86' 16" teledials so the track widening is no longer req as the wheels fit the arch lovely. How ever my steel arms are still very rusty and although nice and shiny the weels are'nt going to stop that.
So to this end do the arms off an 86' transision model fit the 85' model. If so is it a straight swap etc .

also thinking of the fronts too..

Many thanks,

You can fit the 1986 alloy wishbones, but I wouldnt, personally. They get just as dirty as the earlier K70 steel wishbones but they dont have removable ball joints. Itd be far easier to buy new steel wishbones for £12 each and then add new ball joints: to make them last longer and look better you can paint them whilst theyre new and clean.

This is exactly what I wanted to do, have you had to fit spacers or anything to the rears?

Edit: Got any pics?

1986 Turbo telephone dials will fit a series one car without any modifications. 1987 model year onwards parts will need 30mm spacers all round; although you can get by, by fitting a set of long studs and spacers from the rear of an early car to the front hubs leaving you with one set to buy.

hi simon, thanks for the reply.do the rear wishbones req any mods too fit?reason being as it appears to be impossible to find non rusty arms..by which i mean pitted and holed on the strut mount as mine are.

many thanks,

When you say 'wishbone', do you mean the trailing/swinging arm? Its so long since Ive had anything to do with an upgrade like this that I honestly cant remember. If you asked me where to get the bits Id say PHSportscars near Derby, because I know that Paul wont place much of a value on a complete series two rear axle. Youll also be able to find out exactly what fits which cars; but for ease and improvement Id fit the whole shooting match, along with a plastic fuel tank too.
