Simple Question (Hopefully!)

Hi All

Last night I embarked on trying to replace the existing back box on my 924S with a nice shiny S/S one........ All went well until i tried to loosen the - now pretty badly rusted - nuts/bolts on the rear mounts and the actual join between rear section and centre section.

As you will have guessed, they have refused to budge.... I have tried a liberal application of WD40 and a wire brush to no avail. []

Any sure fire ideas out there of the best way for me to solve this small but annoying problem?

Thanks

Andy

hi andy

I too will soon be embarking on replacing back box for a shinny new one, try using a gas blow torch to heated bolts, but be very carfull, as there are lots of other areas under the car which would not take to kindly to direct heat from a blow torch, also the petrol tank isnt a stones through away either. But portable gas torches can be adjusted to give localised heat, hopefully this plus some elbow greese will loosen them.

Don't worry Andy, getting the bolts off is the easy bit! Separating the old back section from the centre section after you've removed the bolts is where it can really get painful!

Thanks Guys

Starting to think it may be time to head off top my local friendly garage with new exhaust in the boot and the question "excuse me gov, how would you charge to fit this......"

Will have another go at the weekend first and see how it goes.

Cheers

Hi All

Almost there now..... successfully replaced the exhaust at the weekend with one minor problem - the fixed bolt on the rear most 'L' shapes metal exhaust hanger that joins the rear box and the rubber 'donut' support sheared off completely.

I need a new part no 931 111 121 01 and have tried Bert but he can't get them. Can get one from Mittelmotor or Pelican parts but both want a large sum of cash for the postage. Anyone have any ideas that may undercut the £16 odd wanted by my local porsche dealership?

Thanks again

Andy

Hello again

Another update. I ordered the part described above from my local Porsche dealer.... Unfortunately they proceeded to order the wrong part as the info ref the part nuber above was wrong .. doh!!! Can anyone tell me what the correct part number is for the item described or where I can find out this info?

Thanks all - who would have thought such a small part could cause so much of a headache!!
