Simple Question... Wipers

Just a quick question from a new owner... Is there any issue in just getting new wiper blades from Halfords (they were not cleaning the screen smoothly), or is there anything special about original Porshce items? thanks

The passenger side wiper blade is curved, and the driver's side is straight (with a spoiler) so as long as the replacements are the same you shouldn't have any problems.

I use the PIAA silicone wipers which are brilliant, but pricy.

Thanks for the feedback. so are these silicone wipers are much better in practice than the regular type from either Halfords or a local PC? I have never tried them? thanks

I find them much better. The Bosch ones (Porsche or Halfords) tended to slightly judder on my first 996, and after switching to the PIAA ones it stopped - even when wiping a dry screen. After a while, you get a "Rain-X" type effect, where the water beads off much quicker.

If you decide to go for them try Camskill. You need a 22" Sportza and a 22" Curved.

Any idea what the Cayman Series 1 wiper reference is Richard (I also have a rear wiper)

TIA

Those are the ones I have on my Cayman too. No rear wiper on mine, so I'm not sure of the size. 22" on 996, but may be different on the 987C.

Thanks Richard - will measure it and report back.

Much appreciated.

PIAA are fantastic. Lasts about 18 months per set then just change the rubbers. Got mine from www.speeding.co.uk
