simpson harness

Hello all

Just about to order some harness from simpson. They have quoted the below.

Jon: it will cost $110.24 to ship your 2 sets of belts ($200) to the UK for a total of $310.24. This does NOT include any taxes or duties imposed by Customs.

So the question is what % will the add on in customs & does anyone know if you can get simpson harnesses for decent cash over this side of the pond.

Thanks in advance

Hi Jon,
Depends on the Duty rate of the item that is coming in, you can ring Customs and Excise and find out.
People like the Post Office charge you to collect that amount too, so can soon start to add up.
People have said in the past use US Postal service rather than UPS or whatever.
Then there's the vat.
Sometimes I get stung sometimes not, it's usually the 'big' things that get got... hmm that almost rhymes...

Why not use Demon Tweeks here in the UK? Next day delivery on many items.

They do a huge range from Sparco, Sabelt, Willans, Schroth, OMP, etc

I've just ordered a pair of Luke harnesses for my RS at £44 each.

Get their 2005 catalogue, www.demon-tweeks.co.uk

www.bernardnewbury.co.uk

he stocks simpson belts, have not checked to see how much though

$110 sounds way to much

you will charged :

import duty 10% ?,
VAT 17.5%
+ handling cost by the parcel co.

Usually when I import it works out cheaper than buying in the UK, but not at $110 shipping !!!!

I thought $110 was a lot, I want the simpson harness because they have a period look to them, although I haven't checked demon-tweeks.

I think I will save myself the pain and buy them from Mr Newbury.

Thanks for the info

$110 shipping is a big rip off I have had quotes for like $25 for posting and it arrives with a $4.95 marked on the package I left BIG negative feedback he did not like that very much..

Don't forget some Americans think England is SO far away..That or I get so where in the US is England[&:]

Dont forget it is almost $2 per pound at the moment. Get them to do a customs declaration as 'Gift'. That gets through unscathed sometimes....

Or undervalue the contents of the parcel.....
