single beep from alarm when locking

I get a single beep from the alarm when remote locking. Sometimes i don't get the single beep but after a few minutes the alarm goes off!

I have replaced the Head unit and i know you need to put tape on the left side to complete the alarm. The new H/U is a tight fit so maybe the tape as come off but i don't think so.

Any other ideas.

Cheers Chris

Is it the horn beep or the usual 'chirp' from the alarm you get when locking/unlocking remotely?

If it's a horn beep then likely something not closed properly e.g. centre console or lids. It's a feature of the alarm to inform you of the potential security problem.

Dave - You shouldn't get a chirp when you lock/unlock the car.

Chris - The system logs recent events, so if you could get a diagnostic check done it would be able to tell you exactly what set off the alarm. As Dave says, it could be a switch on the lids, the interior monitoring sensor, or the radio contact.

Mine started to do a single beep but was okay when using the deadlocks. Turned out to be defective door locks. I don't think that fault is wholly uncommon?

I just checked and I get one in time with the four way flash when unlocking/disarming and two when
locking. Fairly sure it's always been that way. Does that mean something?

You are not pressing the button twice are you? That disables the internal sensors (and gives the 2 beeps as a confirmation - as Richard says, it's a warning that something is not enabled).

It's the same beep as i got when i first changed the H/U before Richard the great informed me i needed to tape the side of the unit. Maybe the tape as come off the side when pushed in. Can the H/U connection be disconected?

Thanks for the help.

Just disconnect it and insulate the end of the cable. It's a complete waste of time anyway, as anyone breaking into the car would have set the alarm off long before they reached the radio!
