Single Wiper Conversion.

Ex Skyline

New member
Is there such a thing for the 944 model? If so, who does it? I think I saw a 944 with such a conversion at a race meeting earlier
this year. Any info would be much appreciated [:)].

Mine has exactly this. The driver's side wiper pops out of it's socket, giving me a single wiper modification. It is a free conversion.

Crap idea, though, as I can't see where I'm going.....[8|]

My car has a 'budget' single wiper conversion - just removed the drivers side wiper arm, replaced the passenger side one with a straight arm, and aligned the arm so that it wipes enough of the drivers side to see! Oh, and I use plenty of rain-X on the screen as well!

I did play around with shortening the crank arm on the wiper linkage to increase the swept arc, but the closer you get to 180 degrees, the more unreliable it gets (and ends up trying to invert the arc and sweep under the bonnet!) - in the end I thought sod it and put a standard crank arm back on - not so good on aesthetics but 100% reliable!

Pete, another suggestion if you want good wipe coverage and a nice job would be fitting a W124 Merc wiper assembly. Its a single Arm, parks nicely and wipes a large area of the screen.
I had a single wiper on an early VW Scirocco GTI and must admit the twin set-up on later cars was better.
You will sort it I am sure
(Just don't fit any of those grubby 911 wipers [;)])
