Skipping cd on PCM 2

Does anyone else's single cd player sometimes skip over sharp bumps or is it just my car?
If the cd player is faulty it is probably the dampers under the cd drive that are at fault. Where can I send the unit for repair?

Maple Audio in Bath seem to be pretty good with PCM units. Address in the FAQ Supplier thread.

It might be the case that the cd lens is dirty pushing the error correction system into overdrive making it skip when you hit a bump.
My first port of call would be a cd lens cleaner (assuming the discs are not at fault/scratched etc)

Was hoping it was a dirty lens but mine also sometimes doesn't eject the disc fully and noisy when doing so. From richard's link it sounds like the other chaps faulty drive.

With nothing to lose, I tried the lens cleaner again with some residue-free electrical contact spray on the bristles and the skipping over bumps seems to have stopped. Result!
