Slicks

I have just been on the phone to silverline to try and sort some new front slicks. 1 front has canvas showing the other still has rubber but not much.
Silveline have had trouble getting hold of 16"slicks,
They have PzeroC but I dont really want to buy 4 and I think with those on the front and slicks on the rear even if I go for the hardest setting on the rear ARB I am going to end up understeering. My rear slicks are still in quite reasonable condition, bruntingthorpe killed the fronts.

Anyone have any ideas or sources of cheap 16inch front slicks? (ideally before Friday)

That was the option they gave me, but at £120 per corner I thought that I might just as well ruin my current road tyres and then get a set of road/track tyres for the 17" rims.

I appreciate that track orientated tyres are going to be less than brilliant in the wet but then BKE is sufficiently "exciting" in lying water to have to tip toe any way.

Well if anyone does sniff out some front 225 slicks please let me know as I need some too.

I do know that Andrew S and Pete Crosthwaite have used 245's on the front wheels previously so another alternative could be 245 Pzero C's which could balance up the grip compared with 225 slicks, or just stick 245 slicks on there for the ultimate last of the late brakers grip king [8D]

Paul Follet - are your rear Toyo track tyres 245 profile?

The fronts are 75 rears 100 +VAT 7.50 shipping. You could possibly get the rears down a bit.
I better adjust my rear ARB to stiff.
He didn't reccomend 245's on the front so 225's are on the way.
and pump the rears up a bit.

I could get TOYO's for 108fitted including VAT (each) from a local tyre place which seems reasonable for the future.

Tony

I could always put the rears on the front for drift action. [:D]

Not sure on the 245 profile, the fronts are 225/50 16, a google search for silverline will give you the phone numbers. (not sure if the C stands for corsa or competition (competizione?) in this case,
Do a google image search for pzeroC and PzeroCorsa and you will see what I mean.

Ordered my tyres from Silverline [:)]

I've got 7" & 8" rims and have gone for 225's all round @ £75 each +++. I'm not a cheap skate (blatant lie) but I wasn't paying £125 for 205's.

It should make for some "interesting" handling anyway.

Tony, You have a scrounging email to see if one of your front slicks is possibly in a useable condition [:)]

I will make Snetters
I will make Snetters

There are some slicks here as well

not sure exactly how the sizes work but if anyone is still looking might be worth a call.

oh and the p zero c front slick rear mix wasnt as bad as I feared, i put a couple of extra psi in the rears to help with the balance and though it did understeer a bit on the fast corners a light lift was all that was required. On a couple of occasions exiting the chicane (when I messed up the entry) the hotter than usual rears could be spun leaving black lines visible in the mirror
