The DMF thread has got me a bit worried, probably because I know little about any of what's going on behind me in Boxster. I've just realised that I've been putting up with a slight shudder when taking off in first on a hill near me, which generally I only notice when the car is cold, which is usually the case when I'm tackling this hill-start. I tend not to rev much when cold so I've been thinking I was just guilty of not giving it enough revs as I take off; if I rev higher I don't tend to notice it. But now I'm thinking that if I wasn't giving it enough gas then I'd be experiencing a chugging, not a mild shudder. Might this be a symptom of a DMF problem? It's a very low milage '03 that gets a good burn every now and then but is never abused; unfortunately I don't get to pay it the attention I'd like at the moment so it's done very few miles in the last 18 months.
