Slipping clutch and noise when braking

Hi All,

Have recently purchased a 2.9 cayman and i've been spending out on it recently which i wasn't really expecting for 2009 plate.

this week I've started to get a whirring noise when braking and today when changing gear from 2nd to 3rd i got no drive at all.. just a load of high revs until i eased off the power and then the clutch engaged..
initially at the start of the week i thought the noise was disc's and pads needing replacing but after today's issues - i think i've got bigger problems..

Any Ideas anyone? - has anyone experienced the same issues??

Unfortunately Gary, it sounds as though your clutch is failing. Maybe the whirring sound you heard when braking was also the clutch slipping.

Firstly I'd make sure that the clutch pedal isn't hanging up and preventing the clutch from releasing fully.

Best to get it checked out ASAP I think.

Jeff

Cheers for the reply Jeff, I fear that this is the issue.

Hopefully i have this covered in my warranty from the garage i purchased the car from..
