Slow to Engine running temperature

Hi

just question on engine running temperature - from cold the car needs approximately 3 miles before it reaches its full running temperature, after that its steady as a rock and does not move no matter how hard you push her.

Seems a little slow in warming up - is this the norm?

Thanks

That's pretty quick to heat an engine our size, you won't have full oil temperature for a few more minutes so be patient before you use full power, esp if running a decently thick oil.
Watch the oil pressure as an indication of full temp.

Lucky you, my C2 2003 3.6 lump takes anywhere up to 10-12 miles to warm fully up depending on the outside air temperature and sometimes longer in very cold weather.

Ditto. 3 miles is pretty quick. There is all sorts of advice on how long to leave it before you put your foot down. Personally I won't boot it until the car has reached its running temp and I've cracked 6 miles. Just a personal limit I impose on myself...

sounds fine, mine took half an hour and when I checked there was no thermostat fitted in the housing !

worth keeping an eye on your rads for build up of leaves etc as always
