Slowly getting there

Well I've had LIL back home for just over two months now and have covered another 1500 miles which makes a total of 7500 since the new engine went in. I have slowly been ticking off items on the long list to get her back to the same condition she was in before my little argument with the crash barriers. Those of you at the 'Northern Ace Cafe' this week will have seen her still missing a nearside rear mirror but thanks to the generosity of MarkK I can now reveal the first picture of her wearing her new cup mirrors [8D]

As you can see they are still painted black from MarkKs 'other' Turbo, but now that they are fitted I am really toying with the idea of leaving them black to match the wheels (and handles, and spoiler etc) and at some point I may fit one of the ESS front spoilers and leave that black also. Your thoughts please?

Next on the list is to refit the under sill skirts, the engine undertrays and then fix the oil pressure sender and wideband sensor.

Good news to report after the 320 mile round trip to the 'Northern Ace' is that my clutch does not seem to be slipping at 4000rpm anymore at my mid boost setting of 15psi, I'm wondering if it had somehow glazed over during it;s time at the bodyshop [&:] Next thing is to test it at 18psi and see what happens. If it does still slip my next step is to tune the Greddy boost controller to hit 15psi and then gradually creep up to 18psi by the redline and hopefully reduce the mammoth torque it currently gets at 4000rpm and irradicate the slip.

I still don't think I can afford to track her this year (but if I do, the 13th October Donington with the guys looks tempting [8D])

I like the black highlights idea, mirrors look good (never normally a fan of the cup mirrors), black stoneguards might be a step too far.

Maybe Rick could do you a custom 'turbo' sticker for the nearside wing in the same style but says 'massive' [:D]

Hi Paul

After having seen them in the flesh next to your car I think they look great.

Black front spoiler now to balance it all out.

Looks very purposefull

Cheers

Lee

Loving the black wing mirrors, I'd leave them be. The contrast of the blue and black really adds to the character of what is already a very special car.

All you need now besides the front spoiler is a black bonnet scoop... [:D][;)]

Looks really cool Paul!Like it alot!!She looks awsome [:)]With a black splitter Luvverly!!!

That's looking a lot better Paul! She did look a bit sorry for herself with only one ear. I agree the mirrors in black look brilliant and a matching coloured splitter (or even black sunstrip) would finish it off a treat [:D]

I think we've found "forum quote of the year" with that one.....we need a smiley for "rolled on floor and wet myself"! [:D][:D]

Good to see LIL back out on the road.....I like the way the black mirrors break up the rest of the colour of the car, and i have to agree a nice black splitter would look great. [:)].

Good stuff Paul. The mirrors look good, probably better than colour coded - i'd save your cash and leave them. God know's you've lavished enough on her so you don't need to spend any more painting the mirrors. Get some miles done and enjoy her - you're playing catch-up!

I have to agree with Scott Paul.

I had a good look at he mirrors on Wednesday at Northern Ace and with the black wheels I am sure they will look just great. Much easier to have them colour coded later if you decide you dont like the look of them. so Enjoy !!!!!!!!

I spotted you and Mark fly by us on the way home but not sure if you noticed I had moved to inside lane a little earlier and don't travel at speed with Pauline onboard.

I like the black mirrors idea, but to be honest in practice I think the blue is too dark to take it and it would look better on a lighter or brighter colour (orange?)

If you do decide to stick with it then I agree a black splitter would tie in the front and how about something down the side in black courtesy of Mr Cannell's emporium to emphasise that the black bits are deliberate?

It's funny you should say that as my wife did say 'why don't you get Rick to make you a small label underneath each mirror saying they are supposed to be black, like the wheels - honest :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:'

Looking good Paul, glad all your issues seem to be behind you at last.

Very shiney, how many stone chips so far [&:] ? My newly painted front has already got 16 admittedly tiny ones but I wished now I`d gone for the `armourfend`.....ho hum [&o]

Personally I`d paint the mirrors [;)] they look aftermarket if not in body colour (in my opinion)

In which case Paul will have to paint the rear spoiler, wheels, window surrounds, rear bumper rubber and door handles as well, as they are all black? [8|]

If you go non-standard then you need to be as thoughtful as if you keep it concourse. I'd go so far as suggesting clear side-indicators as well as the clear fronts, they stand out a mile as the only coloured thing on the side profile!

Picked up one big one on the badge panel already [8|] You drive it on the road, it's gonna happen [&o]

I started picking up road rash on my Gixer thou when out with other riders, now I either go in front or hang well back to avoid it.

Paul, I think we have booked for the 31st October at Donny - that's the £110 for the day deal?

Unless there is another one, of course....
