Small drip onto boot lock motor?

Posted this also on TIPEC.

I have noticed slight condensation on rear window and upon inspection noticed that the boot lock motor is slightly wet and a few drips on top of the inner light casing? The drain seems unblocked on the o/s latch, any ideas where this may be coming from? Cannot see anything obvious where it could come from? Odd.

Any suggestions welcome!

Number plate light fine. I have a half inch gap at the join in the hatch seal (where the joining piece is), but it's always been like that and not leaked before?

Maybe high winds an rain have pushed water in there? I have dried it tonight and will check after next rain.

Other suggestions-the rear light might need resealing. Also, the hatch receiver itself might be seeping a bit. If so, unbolt and use a bit of sealant underneath it.

Yeah it's definitely coming through the o/s hatch apperture. Just phoned OPC and it's £35 for the 944 part and also for the 968 part which I've heard some people say is better and cheaper!

I replaced mine about 3 years ago and they were about £11 a side then. Wee bit of a hike.

I will have a play tonight with the seal and little tray and see if I can get it to seal.

Ok the plot thickens. My hatch seals do not leak at all and all is well in that area. Multiple attacks with a fair amount of water all drained driplessly out the drain tube. My nicely sealed light cluster also came through the chuck water at me from all angles test without as much as a drip. My hatch seal doesn't look like the culprit as no water anywhere near it so where the hell is the drip onto my hatch lock motor coming from? Could it just be something condensing slightly above it? Nothing makes sense at all as there is no other appertures even remotely close to the incident location!!

Has anybody else ever had this issue/seen this phenomenon?

Hi Stuart

Had you looked at my link in your other thread? Mine was baffling too as couldn't find a leak anyway, even when hosing the car sometimes. It was only when I saw a drip of water on the threaded stud under the hatch pin rubber that I realised they were at fault. There's pics in my thread so it makes sense.

I had taken them all out, rubbers looked perfect, cleaned it all up and it still dripped. I replaced the rubbers and that cured it, couldn't fathom why though!

I will look Andy but the baffling thing here is the drip is not directly under the hatch lock tray thingy. It's about 1 and a half inches further in on the boot lock motor. At £35 quid a pop I would like to be 100% convinced before changing what looks like a water tight seal! I get your point though buddy.

Cheers

Stuart
