Evening Gents ,

I have a 2003 C4S 39000 miles - on a few occasions Ive noticed a small 3inch diameter pool of water on the garage floor lying roughly below where the coolant reservoir sits - now I vaguely remember some time ago reading a thread on here of a very similar nature relating to a coolant reservoir cap issue with part number ending .....001 . But its so long ago I cant really remember the true facts - can some kind person shed some light this leak or do you remember the thread in question - many thanks Barry ( sunny Glasgow )

It might be the coolant cap - latest part number is 996.106.447.04 - so its the 5th version!

Another possibility is the coolant tank itself is cracked or has a pinhole. Look for water marks on the engine compartment just under the tank. The tank is only on its 3rd version, btw.

If it's clear, clean moisture then it's likely to be the condensation drain from the aircon. This is absolutely normal and nothing to worry about.

If it's tinted and won't dry up, it's likely to be cooloant and you'll need to get the system checked out.

Front radiators are vulnerable in 911's and leaks often become more apparent further back after the car has been driven.

Good luck.

Regards,

Clive

Many thanks gents this is where the forums become invaluable ....thanks for your input . I'll check the reservoir closely tomorow and may invest in the latest coolant cap - its definately coolant as it tastes sweet . Thanks again Barry

I had a similr problem a while ago, I replaced the cap with the latest version but still water came out of the top.
The expansion tank had been replaced before I got the car.

I found that I had over filled the system.
Be draining back to the correct level, I haven't had a drop out of it since

DAve.
