Smart repair for minor dent on bumper in Central/North London/Herts?

Hi,

Some idiot managed to reverse his car out of his garage whilst forgetting to open the garage door (!). The result is minor scratching and some paint chipping in the centre of the rear bumper. As I am something of a perfectionist I would like to repair the damage. Does anyone know if a smart repair is possible and if so, who might be able to do it in Central/North London or Herts? Or is the consensus that smart repairs are not possible to metallic 993 bumpers and a respray is required. Photo attached.

Thanks

Hi,

If you are a perfectionist then a smart repair will not meet your requirements. Particularly on a silver car in a highly visible area.

Did the "impact" push the bumper material in and it has popped back out?

If so, you may find the same as I did. In my case I thought there was no visible damage but a few weeks later (I think after first frost) I noticed the paint had developed many small cracks (like spider's web) centred on the point in the middle of impact.

So you may find you need a respray of the bumper anyway.

No, the impact was fairly minor so no denting of bumper. Looks like a smart repair might not achieve the desired result then.

Fraid I'd say bumper off job too [:(]

But good chance to check your exhaust heat shields & bumper stays ? [:)]

If it is not expensive for the chipsaway type of repairer and you don't mind squandering a little money it may be worth trying the cheaper option first before forking out a large amount of money to have the bumper repainted.
