Smart-Top Roof Control Unit

Has anyone acquired this innovation from Smart-Top to open and close roof whilst driving on the Boxster. I believe that it is standard on 911 Cab and is now available standard on new Boxster. Does it work, is it as easy to fit as they say and does it affect warranty ??

I don't have one but having read and seen the pics you would have to be seariously thick to have trouble installing it. You simply unplug the old one and plug in the new. I quite like like the idea here http://www.boix.de/Verdeck_eng.htm obviously you have to exercise some caution but it's cheap n cheerful. And does almost the same thing, although in a much cruder manner. The smart top is more a fit and forget option.

We had one our 04 boxster and they work well.

All you do is pull a little black box out of a cicrut board and replace it with the smart top. It take about 1 min.##With regards to warrenty just swap back to the orginal when going in for sercive.

I have one and it works a treat. Since it is just a small fuse like unit you simply replace it with the existing one and put it back when you want to revert back to the original functionality. Very simple to plug in.

We got it as a group and saved some bucks. Do a search on this forum for
Wilhelmy SmartTop Ordering Instructions for more details. The code for group discount may still be valid...

I fitted my SmartTop about 6 weeks ago, just missed out on the group deal but I'd still say it was well worth the money - single touch operation of the roof upto 30mph really is the business!!

Anyway, 2 weeks ago my motor went to the OPC for its 24k service and I forgot to remove it......... and the result was bu66er all - OPC never noticed [;)]

Summer - it's what they were made for !
