Smartop

I've seen a couple of posts recommending 'Smartop' for cabs.
Many years ago my 993 had a one touch full closure facility on the key fob. This was brilliant because it removed the need for you to stand close to the car and hold down the closure facility on the key.
Is this similiar?
How does this system work, will it fit my 997, where can i get this done and of course how expensive is it to do?

Any drawbacks?

All advice welcome

Merry Christmas

I had one fitted to my 996 and it made a massive difference in usability.
You can get them direct from their website or various Porsche parts suppliers sell them.
You can easily fit them yourself but if buying from a supplier I'm sure they would do it for you.

The module fits inline behind the rear seats and gives various options including one touch operation and allowing the rear windows to rise with the roof down- which I found road noise seem less intrusive.
May interfere with extended warranty if spotted, although mine was never questioned.

Have one in my 986. Expensive from new for what is basically just a relay and little circuit board, but IMHO worth having. Try eBay.

I have used Smartops in all my cabs over the years and found it really useful. Quite easy to fit and there is a setting that makes it invisible to OPC equipment (unless they actually spot the gizmo). Has useful functions such as a chirp when locking/unlocking and a delay on opening boot as this can easily be activated by mistake in the non smartop car.
