Smell of Fuel Vapour in Car and Outside

Noticed on a long drive over the warm weekend a smell of fuel both in and outside the car.

The smell did go overnight on all occasions.

Have had a look over the car but can not see anything obvious and the smell has died down now its a lot cooler.

Anything obvious that I shoudl be checking or concerned about ?

I have a strong smell of petrol/exhaust when I reverse off my drive. It soon clears and never have any smell once driving, even when stopped in traffic.
