smelly air con

G60KG

New member
started to notice a smell when first turning the car on. Just need to clarify what I need to do to rectify the problem. Is it filters or does it need a professional service and if so where to take it and how much should I expect to pay?

Probably pollen filter, have you washed those trainers lately?
i had a pair of sandals that got a bit rank and the only time i noticed was in the car with
ventilation downwards.

Interesting, mine has just started doing that too - just for the first 10s or so, after starting up.

Hoping it could it be as simple as a pollen filter? Anyone else had this and fixed it?

You can get deodourant anti-bacterial sprays for car aircon systems. It is an aerosol bomb you put in the car with the aircon running and close the doors (with you outside!). People like CarPlan make them. Halfords should stock them, but I got one on eBay for about a fiver.

Did it do the job?

I got it a couple of months ago, but haven't actually used it yet. I was waiting for the better weather, but I don't have any excuses now.

The 'bombs' seem to work well, as does exercising the aircon for at least ten mins every month, including winter

When you say exercising does that mean you dont normally have it turned on?
