Hi, I have a 2000. 3.2s boxster. 42000 miles. Engine sounds great and starts and runs fine. There is some blue smoke when first started but only a small amount. When driving hard there is sometimes a cloud of smoke between gear changes, is this common ? Any help gratefully received.

Hi

I have a similar problem with a 2000 3.2S also done 42000 miles. Mine only smokes when cold and only when parked a certain way in my drive. (Drive slopes and happens when parked o/s down slope). I have only noticed this since car was recently serviced by specialist garage. I have spoken to garage who tell me this is nothing to worry about and is likely to be some oil leaking back into the engine (sorry, not very technical minded). I would be interested to know if anyone experienced similar problem?

Welcome to the forum Ivorwood.

If you park on a slope then this can happen. It is likely to be the oil seeping past the piston rings. The engine is flat - with the cylinders horizontal, so it's not uncommon (even without a slope!)

Thank you for your help - there is some smoke when first started but nothing compared to 7000rpm gear changes !!! James Bond eat your heart out - only on private road of course -I would love a switch to do this - anyway Monday should hopefully see the end of the "smoke" many thanks.
