Whilst waiting for my rear muffler thought id go and clean the car. Never used a clay bar before so gave it a go. Nice man said not to bother with buying lubricant. He stated you could use the autoglym wash mixed with water.

Procedure i followed was;
1. wet car with water
2. wash car with autoglym wash mixture
3. wet car with water again
4. dry
5. spray on mixture/lubricant and use clay bar (about 25 grams used for whole car)
6. dry off excess
7. Wash car again with autoglym
8. wet with clean water
9. dry
10. Apply zymol wax cleaner all round and rub off when dry
11. Apply autoglym high definition wax and rub off when dry

Car is now smooth as a babies bottom. The lengths we will go to.

I've been wondering about giving a clay bar a go, which one did you use? I noticed the maguires kit in Halfords the other day.

I was at a car show yesterday and bought it from a firm called 'performance motorcare' or 'motorcare performance'. Apparently they have a web site. Anyway, he had three different grades so i bought the fine grade as my paintwork is good. Removed all the brake dust deposits. I was surprised at how easy it was. Go for it.

Bilt Hamber clay bars are the best (imo) very easy to use, no lube needed - just wash and wet car. Its incredible to see how much grime comes off the car even though we think our cars are clean !
I have bought mine off an ebay shop -springfield automotive - very good service and price

+1 for Bilt Hamber. Their clay bars are bigger than the competition, you only need water as the lubricant, and you only use 1/4 of the bar to do the car, so get 4 "clays" for the price! Remember - if you drop it, bin it. Do the glass first, then the paintwork, then the wheels, then bin it. Wax the wheels as well as the car after claying, they'll clean easier for a while.
