Smoother Running in the cold

I starting my S2 last night after 5 days standing. This is the first time i 've started it in the cold since i bourght it few months back. And it was so smooth it felt like it just been serviced. It started better then usual and idled purrfectly and felt quick and responsive. i know cold air burns best in combustion and warm air is very dense and not so good. Anyone expeirienced this? Probably a pointless post but but need to keep the forum ticking over

FYI Cold air is more dense than hot....therefore more of it can be admitted to the combustion chamber and, if mixed with more fuel (and that's the trick) can make more power.

Engines however, like to be operated HOT for tons of reasons....(some of them very complex).

I love running my car in the winter - it goes much faster.

FYI - when doing dyno runs back to back with a mod, make sure ambient is kept as constant as possible or the results will differ for "no apparent reason"..
