Snow chains - anyone got some for sale?

Heading down to the French Alps soon for skiing and I'd like to get hold of some snow chains. Before I take the route of buying some Porsche 'own brand' items, has anyone got some for sale? I have 20" wheels fitted.

Alternatively, any advice on alternatives to the Porsche versions would be gratefully received.

Thanks - Martin.

Don't think a set for a Cayman would fit - the chains are to fit my Cayenne with 275/45R20 tyres. What is the Cayman fitted with?

I’ve been going to the Alps in winter pretty regularly for many years. I haven’t used snow chains since mid 1990’s. These days most Alpine resorts are accessible with winter tyres ( 3 mountain peak snowflake). That said there may be some high resorts where chains are needed.
What can be more of an issue is that in some countries you may find your insurance is invalidated if you do not have tyres appropriate for the conditions. Winter tyres mitigate that risk.
I’ve just changed vehicles to a Diesel Macan that came on summer 20”. My OPC did a second hand Porsche 19” winter wheel and tyre set fitted, for £1k and threw in a set of Union Jack plates. Might be worth a ring around.

And for info it has this season become illegal between November and March not to have either chains or winter tyres with you in most mountain locations in France although this article suggests you will only get a warning this season.

We would normally use a Defender without either with us in such locations but it is as yet unclear whether rules or common sense would win the day with the French police.

Hi, yes I have obtained a spare second-hand set of Cayenne wheels with winter tyres fitted (not yet four years old and less than 5k miles) but was unsure about snow chains. The resort we need to access is at approx. 1600 metres. I'm not sure how zealous the Gendarmes are regarding chains. Signage at the foot of the mountain definitely encourages possession of chains.

I'm just baulking a bit at buying a £500-ish set of chains from Porsche.

i normally spend jan to mar in a swiss ski resort and my local alpine garage in always has a stock of bent british 4x4 who thought they didnt need winter tyres. almost any car with winter wheels is better than a 4x4 without. All season tyres are ok on snow but arent nearly as good on ice.
you should also note that several countries now penalise those without winter tyres in case of an incident. You get fined in germany if you get stuck and if you have an accident in switzerland is is common for the person without winter tyres to be held to blame automatically.

i would always recommend winter tyres first and a set of chains for emmergency. There are plenty of cheaper options out there. Ie https://www.amazon.co.uk/MICHELIN-008316-Easy-Chains-Evolution-Group/dp/B074P3VW76/
i mange to get a set of porsche chains brand new off ebay for 200 so that may be worth a look. The cayenne chains are 6mm rudd.

In the last 20 of 40 years driving in the mountains for 8+weeks every year i have only used chains once while wearing winter tyres and even then they where just placed under the tyres to get me off a piece of sheet black ice. Prior to that i had several xjs on older style winter tyres and even that didnt need chains very often. modern winter tyres are staggeringly good but remember that you need a min of 4mm tread for them to qualify As winters.

i got a set of 19” old/new winter (ie 3yr old unused) tyres and brand new alloys off 9-apart on ebay for a very good price. Good man to deal with
