i know it is not snowing but i have been offered some snow tyres.

but has any one tried them on a 996 c4s?

would you buy again?

thanks

marc

I have a set of wheels with Vredstein Wintrak Extreme winter tyres for my Cayman, and they are great in the snow. Absolute night and day compared to summer tyres in the snow.

I think several people on here have winter tyres for their 996s. I know Min has the same tyres as me on his Turbo, and had really good results in the snow.

Sorry - anyone who has snow tyres.

Do you swap them onto your existing wheels or have you bought some specifically for the snow tyres.

I got replica turbo wheels from Design911 for my Vredestein Wintrac Xtremes. I was mobile the whole 5 weeks of snow in 2010. The car had no problems going up hill even with 5 inches of snow. I use them yearly from November to March and the car grips a lot better on cold or frosty roads. If the ambient temperature is above 10 degrees you will feel the car understeer and the steering becomes quite vague as the tyre blocks move around more.

sorry been away for a few days.

thanks for info looks like a set of wintre tyres did you change tyre as per porsche or go with 295/35/19 thats the option i have been given

thanks

marc

Have a look at this link for the right sizes and recommendations. http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/porscheservice/documentsanddownloads/
Just to note, the Vredesteins I use are not N-rated but the right load rating for my car. I figured the non-N rated tyres were fine given that I was using them for potentially adverse conditions and would not be driving the car like Porsche intended.

Useful information even living in East Anglia which isn't known for long harsh winters. Don't think we get Siberian winds as much as we used to. Might pay me to look into this.

But has anyone here actively given up changing over to winter tyres for those days and nights below 7 degrees?
