Firstly sorry for posting this here Nicola, but North Wales don't seem to bother with a forum.

A few of our neighbours in the NW might be interested anyway, so here goes

This is not a PCGB event, buta few of us are getting together on Sunday 26th for a run out, starting either at the Tan-y-Groes Inn or from Betws y Coed. Run down to Transfynydd, then across to Bala, and down to Lake Vyrnwy, before heading back towards the A5 and back to Betws.

Start point probably the Groes Inn (will confirm nearer the date) 10:00am, but dependent upon the numbers staying overnight in the Groes (one lad coming from Bracknell !!). Keep an eye on this thread and if you or anyone else is interested

Have now negotiated access on the private road up to Stwlan Dam at the Ffestiniog hydro electric power station - looks inviting.

Shame, I'm with another independant club the weekend prior[] and the weather doesn't look to good at the moment.
Similar roads except we haven't got the private road (not that I know of).
It looks a proper piece of tarmac..

We have to be at BF Power Station at 11:00am to gain access to the Stwlan Dam

Including a few stops and lunch i reckon this will take us the best part of five hours, which should give people heading back south a reasonable departure time.

A few pics from yesterday.

Mike, nice to catch up with you and Viv again.

I didn't stage the descent photo either [;)]

Dave, I don't dout for one moment that the photo's were not staged!!
great day out, nice company, wonderful roads, terrific hood down weather, super lunch and what a view overlooking the lake.
Thanks for organising the tour, Sundays don't come much better than that.

When Chris and I sort out the video footage we'll be sure to send you a copy, I have quite a bit of footage following you on the last stage before you left us (the job of a good camera support vehicle is to insure you get some footage of every car during the day ;))

Good to meet you and viv

Gary

I see you had lunch where we finished our Sunday part of the cruise, was the carpark still a building site!!? At least unlike the week previous the local marathon wasn't taking place[&:].
A big event in south and mid wales planned for next april..looking forward to it.

hey garyw,

building work still ongoing but carpark not too bad - a fezza 328 was getting a bit dusty looking though [:D]

there were a few local runners out, but who could blame them - one of the most beautiful places in the country round that lake [;)]

and a vintage car rally from Betws y coed going North, made for some interesting sites on our way South
