Congratulations Clive and Alan on taking on the 997 Register Secretary and Assistant roles. This part of the Club has produced many memorable trips and events over the years which I'm sure you and Alan will continue to organise. And of course accept a few interlopers along the way [:D]

Yes, My obvious congratulations to Clive and Alan for taking on this important role, I'm really pleased the guys stepped forward and feel the register will continue to grow and evolve with the skills they have between them.
I'm sure that they'll get some celebratory drinks on the SW drive.

Thanks you for the congrats chaps! We will do our best to fill the large boots (meant in the nicest way!) left empty by Gary and Jo. Hopefully it will be a pretty much seamless transition as the intention is to continue planning the type of events we know the register expects! The calendar is already starting to fill with the visit to Prodrive (full), SW Drive (full), the Big trip to France (full!), Wilton House supercars, Beaulieu Supercar Showdown and the Christmas event (look out for this very soon on here) all taking shape.
No doubt other favourites like Poole Quay will feature and we are looking at other "driving based" events to fill the gaps. But, as ever, it's your club so we very much welcome all suggestions for future events where we can enjoy ours cars, good company, welcome friends new and old and partake in the odd refreshment or two![:)]

Congratulations to Clive and Alan, very pleased that you have taken up the roles and are positive that the 997 register will be lead as good as your South West runs are, saying that, Gary will be a hard act to follow.
A big thank you to Gary for everthing he and Jo did for the 997 group and hope to see you back in a Porsche soon !.

Thanks to everybody for their kind wishes.

I'm delighted to be appointed Register Secretary for 997 Register with Alan as Register Assistant and together, we hope to able to carry on the good work so ably established by Gary and Jo over the last few years. We're standing on the shoulders of giants, so have a great start. [;)]

It's a daunting prospect, since I don't think anyone is going to be able to match the hard work and dedication this pair have consistently given to our Register over the last few years. Personally speaking, Judy and I have enjoyed such wonderful times, been to places we would never have dreamed of visiting, had some great laughs and most important of all, made many new friends. 997 Register, for us, has added a wonderful new dimension to Porsche ownership and we cannot thank you both enough for that. [:)]

On the basis of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" 2013 looks like its going to be another busy year along similar lines to previously. We kick off in March with our visit to Prodrive. This has proved to be so popular we may think about a second visit later in the year for those who missed out first time. Following Easter weekend, we have our first run of the year organised by Alan and myself, the 2 day South West Tour. We'll be visiting new places on some new roads and for the most part will be travelling around the scenic North Devon area.

The following weekend, there's the Workers Conference on Saturday and the Club AGM in Droitwich on Sunday. Here's an opportunity for you "state the case" for members to the guys running the Club. So if you have any ideas or thoughts you would like us to put forward on your behalf, let us have them on 997@porscheclubgb.com. There's a track day at a new venue in Lincolnshire - so April's really busy. In May/June, we have the Big Tour through France, down to Monaco. Also in May is the traditional Poole Quay Porsche event. In July, there's the Silverstone Classic and your chance to be part of a spectacular record-breaking big parade of 911's.

In August, the Register (with 991's) is once again exclusively invited to Wilton House in Salisbury for the Supercar Day and also to Beaulieu, the home of the National Motor Museum, for their Supercar Shootout. Announcements for both events will follow shortly.

In Autumn, I'm hoping to persuade Gary to put on a weekend run in the north part of the country, providing he can find roads smooth enough to accommodate his Macca, that is! [] And you'll be pleased to hear, we already have arranged the 997 Register 2013 Christmas party. Alan will be posting more details of this shortly - you can't say we don't think ahead. [:)]

For the technically minded, don't forget our special technical features in the members only section of 997 forum. Here you can find interesting articles dedicated to our model and useful DIY tips on simple repairs and procedures.

Phew! That's about it from me, but don't forget it's your Club too and if you have any ideas of places you would like to visit, roads you would like to drive, talks you would like to hear, then let us know. 997@porscheclubgb.com is the address.

Looking forward to meeting up with everyone sometime during the year. [:D]

All the best.

Clive

Well done guys if anybody can follow in Gary's footsteps and maintain the standard its the 2 of you.

Looking forward to a great year

Geoff & Caroline

Delighted to hear the Register is in such safe hands - Gary and Jo are a very hard act to follow and I can't think of anyone better suited to run the Register to such a high standard. Well done, chaps!

I've spoken with Clive and there will indeed be the season ending Autumn drive [:)]
Maybe a bit earlier this year but probably either the Lakes or NorthYorks..

I'm thinking of watching the likes of travelzoo or secret escapes and trying to get one of the cracking deals they offer [:D]
This way hopefully making it an excellent weekends dining and driving trip.
