So my head gasket just went...

So instead of faffing around and rebuilding the engine I was thinking of getting another one and just dropping it straight in. Does anyone know a good 944 specialist in the midlands (I'm from nottingham) that can do this for me (and an engine source perhaps?)

I have got a 2.5 LUX 84' but now that I am at this point I am very tempted to drop in a 3.0 S2 engine in it. I've read somewhere that JMG has done it before, but they are at the opposite end of the country :( (And seem to have the most know-how regarding 944's from what I've read so far).

Anybody with recommendations/comments?

Engine overheated since the radiator fans weren't working and I didn't even notice the temp gauge creep up until I saw steam coming off the bonnet. :( My bad!

Big (expensive) job to fit a 16v motor to a square dash 8v I think. You could try ph sportscars - they may have the bits you need.

I'd look at another 8v maybe with cam / augtronic as a cheaper option to get a bit more performance. Or maybe buy an s2....

Yep, augtronic was actually my original plan before it blew up. Or just a straight swap of the DME + AFM from later models as I read they are pretty straightforward.

Anyhoo, looks like I will have to stick to finding a spare engine from a reputable seller somewhere. Get the water pump etc done whilst were at it.

Oh well, time to search for a replacement engine.
