SOB I'm selling

bones

New member
Merry Xmas to all,
After twenty five years of ownership I'm selling my 911 [:(] I've finally admitted to myself that the petrol gene has waned and she sits in the garage telling me it is to time to divorce. We've seen many miles together, a few scrapes and near misses but all in all it's been a rewarding relationship. As I live in France it will be difficult to sell at the right price in the UK as I want to settle up in euros but as my car is modified there might be someone out there for whom she is just the ticket and can stretch that bit further than a standard SC.
I can honestly say that the can can be driven everyday and wouldn't need any major work for a while yet. For those who wish everything to be just right, I suggest removing both front wings and attending to the usual small bubbles around the headlights and where the wings meet the front bumper. If your eye sight is not what it was then it's not a problem. Both B posts have been repaired and are in excellent shape, people always remark how tidy the body is, the Targa roof has been refurbished and is in excellent nick, the interior is that of a well used but cared for car. There is a small leak from an oil pipe union on the engine and it will require the engine to be removed to fix it. If it is driven often there are a few drips of oil on the garage floor, more if left standing but it is not a serious leak just annoying as the engine is otherwise tight and very tidy. The four speed sporto box works superbly and there are spares supplied with it. All other mechanicals are fine but it is a great car to fit all the wonderful upgrades now available to.
I'm in France so perhaps it is asking a lot for interest in the car but I wanted to give everyone here first dibs on her, wish me luck. [;)]

Hi Bones

Sad to read the news, but it might help if you mentioned the price that you hope to achieve.

Hope all is well with you and have a great Chrismas and a good New Year.

Best wishes

Have fun

Thanks for the thoughts and good wishes folks, a big decision but I didn't make it in haste, I spend a lot of time oil painting now and the summers are great for fishing which I've rediscovered, the pace of life here is such that rushing about the countryside doesn't appeal, maybe a 356 would suit better but a Targa is a must here.

Hi Peter sorry to hear you are selling the targa but happy you are enjoying your life in France, Happy Christmas and all the best in the new years. Berny.

All the best with the sale Bones ....... great to hear life in France is chilled, wish I could join you .... [:)]

Hi Berny
Yes the time has come to sell as I don't get the buzz from driving her anymore, I must have slowed down here, life is slow and summers are long. Have a beltin' Xmas Berny.

Hi Des just watched that video, big fun but a hard job passing the extra wide yellow RS! [;)] If you're ever in W. France look me up.

Hi Bones.
I am sorry you are selling your car. Please keep in touch with us all as you are an important link to better time, to me at least.
You talk about a 356.Have you concidered a front engine car 924/944/968? They may not be a ragtop but with the sunfoof out you would be hard pressed to tell the difference from the inside. They are practical too.
Anyway. Happy Christmas and a good New Year.
Geoff.

Merry Xmas Geoff how's the Aermacchi running? I'm not sure about times being better back then, maybe for you but not me, I'm the happiest I've been in my life just now, last summer was the best and longest summer of my life since I was about nine years old. [:)] I once had a mental flirtation with the idea of buying a 944 Turbo but it quickly passed, I'm a 911 type of guy, I would only be unfaithful with a GT1 and that is a 911 really [;)]. I'm not driving the old girl so it is time to sell and hope the new owner enjoys her as much as I have.

Sorry to hear your selling Bones. But sounds like it's for all the right reasons. best wishes from the extra wide Yellow RS[;)] Hint : Des is not in the camera car !

Hi Bones
Wow just came across this thread, this is indeed very sad news that car was joined to you at the hip.

Sounds like life is good out there in France, I assume you have been investigating the local vineyards there are some great fines I've heard.

Best wishes

PS Will try pop over to see you as part of this year's Le Mans trip
