I can find a boxed set of Cleaner and Re-proof for soft tops . I only need the re-proof - anyone know who sells just the Re-proof product.
Any tips when applying ie don't dos also welcome!

Well I guess it depends on what product and what roof material you have fitted , As In how you apply or work with a roof, Proofer ,IN my case it recommends applying the re proof when the top is damp after a clean for best results.
I use on mine Autglym cleaner and re proofer.

I use a product called 'Fabrosil' its a general purpose reproofer and have use it successfully for years on my car and the wifes beamers.
Not sure I have spelt the name correct so call me at home tonight and I will get the deatils off the tin.
Added bouns - its really cheap too!!

Hi I also use Fabsil which you can get from Millets or Blacks camping stores.

As for cleaning, spray with a carbonated water (lifts dust particles) and then rince well with cold water. If there are any stains (mildew) use somthing like Lux flakes in a little water apply with a sponge and the rinse off well.

I used the Porsche re-proofer and to be honest it was rubbish.

I hear good things about the 3M Scotchguard Heavy Duty waterproofer (I think that's the one!) - available at B&Q the last I heard.

I've use the Autoglym one which is water-based, works well and smells really nice. Trouble is, it only comes in a pack with cleaner, most of which I didn't use. But the stiff sponge that also comes in the pack is great for cleaning and for use as a stiff brush/duster for the top when dry. I followed up the Autoglym with the aforementioned Scotchguard, which also worked well but has an incredibly fine atomiser spray which can drift easily. It also stinks like petrochemical until dry. And I bought some Porsche stuff but haven't used it - sold the car instead!

I agree with BrianJ that the Autoglym stuff is pretty good. Just mask carefully and don't use on a windy day because it is hard, but not impossible, to clean off any overspray from windows and/or paintwork.

Just buy a painting dustsheet (huge polythene sheet) for about £1. Open the roof a bit, make hole in sheet, place roof through hole, close roof trapping the sheet. tape down sheet and mask the plastic bits of the roof. Mask window - Spray away...

Hi i'm a newbie on here, i have always used the Autoglym kit on all the convertables i have owned as the other guys have mentioned carefully mask windows.

Pete.

I agree with Mark about the dust sheet if you are spraying.

The nice thing about the Fabsil is that you can apply it with a paint brust and so there is no risk of over spray.

If you do want to spray it use a simple garden pump spray and work it into the top with a clean sponge or lint free cloth after application.

regards

Not only that Mark - it's a dam site cheaper too!

After application, and a good downpour, the water bubbles just like it does on waxed paintwork. IMHO I think its better than Autoglym.

Sorry Pete no phone call was on WOTY/HOTY.[8D] Thanks for the tip speak latter re Blenheim.

I've used the Porsche cleaner and re-proof and it was propper pants! It's in a spray can and went everywhere except the roof!. I have since used the Autoglym kit which I think is superb and you get excellent beeding of water when it rains as clear proof it's working. The roof looked so much darker as well afterwards - so much so that the three other soft top owners at my office saw the results and did theirs the next weekend with the same kit - same results each time. I found it easier to pour the re-proof onto a lint free cloth and wipe it on to ensure deep and throrough coverage - thumbs up from me!

Try the Renovo range of roof cleaners/proofers. Excellent results, water beads like on polished surfaces.

I've used the BMW re-proofer and it seems to work well, good beading when it rains and easy to apply.
