Soft top roof jammed

Remove the 2 black circular bungs by the rear speakers , then loosen the bolts, don’t completely unscrew! You then will be able to open or close the roof manually.

When opening the roof it jammed half way open and now will not open or close. I know there is a way of lowering it mannually but cannot find how to do it. Any advice welcome

Thanks. I managed to get the roof down. I took the car to a "roof man" at Brightwells in Hockley Essex who saw what had happened. One of the bolts securing the mechanism to the offside gearbox had sheared and one of the holes of the cast motor housing had split. One of the arms had also bent. Fortunately a recognised welder was able to repair the casting and with some difficulty the arm was bent back into place. The elastic holding the inner lining had stretched and was replaced.

It is as well to keep an eye on any potential distortion of the mechanism as there are no sensors detecting this and the motor will keep operating.
