Soft top stowage

Is there a reason that the soft top should not be stored in the open position for long periods, eg days or weeks?

I shall be fitting my hard top at the end of october and removing it at the start of March,The soft top is stored in the open position without any adverse effect.

The only thing you will get is a single column of several small circles imprinted right in the centre when closed, this is due to the pads in the back which I assume is to hold the soft top in place and prevent it tapping against the back when open. They disappear after a while in close position...

California is Porsche biggest soft top market and they all leave is open all the time, so go for it but please do let us know where you have found this mystical land where the sun shines all week...

If you have the plastic rear-window, then it is important to remember that when leaving the top down for prolonged peoriods, or using the hard top, you should ensure the plastic window is scrupulously clean, and use the "fleece" (actually a bit of felt) that Porsche supply to ensure that the plastic does not chafe and get scratched.
