Software Recall

Hi everyone; my first post so please be gentle!
OPC called this week to say that my 997 Gen2 needs a software fix. Something to do with the PCM and will take about an hour to download.
I've not noticed any particular problems and the chap who contacted me was rather vague about it.
Anyone else had this fix? What is it supposed to fix?
Not booked in until next Friday and so if no one has experience of this then I will update you then.
Regards, Nigel.

Hi Nigel and welcome,

I think on some of the early cars the PCM would reset mid journey? Also I think there is a fix for the occasional phone/bluetooth/iPod glitch?

Cheers Alan,
I do struggle to get a bluetooth connection to my Blackberry so I hope it cures it...

Ah, that's a different problem - more to do with your phone than the PCM. Have you seen this?

It depends on whether the PCM is set for SAP or HFP

Had software recall for PCM done today. Apparently the radio station can "freeze" and be unable to change stations. I've never experienced this though. Whilst there they spotted that my rear numberplate showed signs of delaminating around the screw holes and so they replaced it at no charge. I was not aware of this and so well done to them (Porsche Solihull)!
Incidentally whist waiting in the showroom, something jogged my memory concerning something that happened quite some years ago when I had my 968 Sport. I'd had an invite to Millbrook proving ground where they were demonstrating the then new 993 model. We were allowed to drive them around the Mountain course, do some ABS braking exercises and then we were driven around the handling course and then the high speed bowl. My chauffeur for this part was Roger Clarke the rally driver. (and Cossack hairspray - my god how old am I?). He asked me what car I was currently driving. I told him a 968. He then said that he'd just won the Tasmanian rally in a 968 and that I'd got just about the best handling car available and therefore, what on earth would I want a 993 for.!! I wonder how many other potential customers he put off buying a 993?

Nigel.
