Soggy carpet

I’ve had my 2010 Cayenne for over 18 months now and absolutely love it. Being diesel it’s frugal but powerful enough for me as a daily.

It’s been stood outside since I bought it and I have never had water ingress until recently.

Yesterday I minted the car inside and out and finished off by vacuuming the carpets, and that when I noticed the driver footwell has soggy carpets.

Today the front offside wheel was removed to gain access to the drain behind the wheel arch cover. It was full of crud but not exactly blocked.

Is there anywhere else that I need to check out where there might be a blocked drain that’s causing this issue.

Also, is it an easy ish process the take out the carpets or will it be best to dry in situ?

Thanks in advance peeps.

Yes I have. a panoramic roof.

Has anyone go idea on how to look at the roof issues that may be causing the water ingress?
Peter,

The drainage channels are the most likely culprit. Most pano roofs have drainage channels on either side at the front. Try pouring water down these to see if they are blocked.

I recently sold an X5 because of a leaking pano roof that BMW could not seem to fix. They ended up replacing every seal on the roof but I lost confidence and ended up selling it and buying a Cayenne S.

Good luck!

Steve

I had a similar thing happen to our Cayenne, likely to have been the 2015 one from memory. Pano roof with clear drains. Only the passenger side affected.
Like you, cleaned out the worst of the water with the Henry, dried the carpet out of the car and left the rest to dry in the sun.
No explanation and never repeated. Bizarre.
