Been meaning to post this up for a while as I think I have finally cracked the problem of keeping the car in a garage without electricity for a trickle charger or windows for a solar charger, and I guess there are a few others here in the same position.
I bought a kit from these chaps:
http://www.brightlightsolar.com/acatalog/Solar_Kits.html
It needed some extra cable which they sell and a pair of crocodile clips which I ordered from Maplins for the battery connection. The panel sits up on the roof of the garage and then it is a simple enough job to run the cable inside and connect up the wiring to the controller.
The panel doesn't produce enough juice to charge the battery if it is flat, but I have found that if I connect it when the battery is fully charged then it will keep it powered up and I can even leave the car with the alarm on without the battery going flat; with holiday/weather/work the car hasn't been out much recently but the battery is still good to go, whereas before it would have been flatter than the proverbial.
No affiliation to Bright Light Solar yada yada etc.
