Solar trickle charger

Hi All,

During the time I dont use the car I was thinking of buying a 4W solar charger to try and prevent a dead battery. Does anyone use or indeed have experience of such things? Do they work?

Grateful for any guidance.

Thanks

I have used a 7.5W solar panel with a charge controller in the past - see this thread

to good effect. Don't know if a 4W panel would be man enough although a 3.6W Ctek charger seems to be! I guess it depends whether you live in a sunny part of the country![:)]

Edit - Ah, I see you're R14 so I guess not![:D]

Not used a solar one but use a standard trickle charger for periods longer than a week and works fine.

I have been using a 4 amp solar charger all year and it keeps the battery fully charged. £24.00 off ebay

I used mine at Le-Mans last year. Everyone was running their cars for a while each day. But the charger sitting on the luggage blind kept my battery tip top.
