My Son Took delivery of a Gen 2 997 cab last September and since then we have been trying to sell his 2005 997 cab.

Admitedly, we could have let the OPC buy it outright, but the offer for a straight purchase was not acceptable.

The car sat in an independent traders showroom, on a sale or return basis, and whilst he had a number of acceptable offers, the would be purchasers were all refused finance. In January the car was tranfered to our local OPC, again on a sale or return basis and it wasn't until the sun came out last weekend that they managed to sell it.

The upshot is we still received more back last week than we would have received if we originally sold it to the OPC last september.

Has anyone else experienced such a long delay in finding a buyer ?

I traded my 05 C2S Cab back to my OPC in Sept 2007.

I got a call from Tracker the other day saying did I mind the new owner transferring my old Tracker policy to them. So according to Tracker my OPC only just sold the car!!

I find that very hard to believe though as I didn't see it on their website soon after I traded it. Perhaps it's been hoping between dealerships since then though??

Sadly not, but a nice outcome in the end.
Tony, I tried to say hello to you on Sunday at Duxford, but we never seemed to be around our cars at the same time..
We were almost parked next to each other (bar your sons motor), well until they squeezed the Boxster inbetween us..!
Hope you enjoyed the day as much as what I did.

A friend of mine had a 997 carreraS and sold it to a dealer in Jan 08.

The dealer only just sold the car last month (in the end it was on the forecourt for 10k under what it was purchased for).

My friend was well happy with his timing, but the car did have 5 previous owners (on a 54 plate) and I thought the dealer was a little silly taking it in the first place (as was my friend when he brought it with 4 owners).

It would have been good to meet, but there was so much to see and do that we did not spend enough time at the Porsche Parking area to have time socialise. Maybe next time we could use a 'Post it' sticker on the windscreen to arrange a rendezvous ![:)]

Now we need to sell off a Basalt black hard top that we had forgotten about in the garage !

Some years ago, before the current problems, I sold one of our 'Company cars' to a dealer. The car was a clean, low milage 3 year old BMW 3 series and looked great in Red with a set of large alloys.

The dealer tried everything to shift it, including changing the wheels and dropping the price. After the car had been on the forecourt for over a year he advertised it for about £2.5k less than he paid for it and finally sold it after 16 months.
