Sold my car

After much deliberation, I have sold the black beast ! I was really surprised by the amount of interest I received. I had 12 enquiries from Europe and none from the UK !! I suppose with the current economic climate here, a LHD car with the Euro as it is, it is a good proposition for our European friends. The car is going to Holland and is being driven back on Saturday.
I intended to keep the car as I really loved it, but have been tempted by a 911 that I saw advertised recently. I have bought a 964 coupe in Guards red, which has been modified by Ruf. I intend to strip the car and turn it into an RS replica.
I will be keeping my eyes open for a cheap 968 that I can continue to track but in the mean time will be stripping the 911 interior and that dreaded glue !!

Sometimes you have to move on Kev[&:]
I daresay another 968 will appear sooner rather than later[;)]
A couple of us have got a bit lucky with them lately. Keep your ear to the ground & keep looking in the autotrader mag as not everything gets on the net[;)]

I have my 968 all built up now, body all done, just waiting for the wheels to come back with a couple of new front tyres then off to the MOT lads at PH - Kirkmans now - really just to see if they can find anything else I need to do before I restart stripping it more mechanically. Also got to go back to the paint guys for some rectification work. Went for silver on these wheels but when I find the two fronts I need to make up the track set, they will be orange for sure[:D]

Have to sort caliper plate lift, discs, pads, front/rear suspension remove and fit polys, rear rubber support mounts, brake lines, fuel lines, inoperative sunroof, new stereo, plastic rod on central locking, drivers door catch plate...........[&:]

Been on it tonight sorting the n/side headlamp unit. I got a used one which seemed all OK but then the electric height adjust was inop. Luckily had the small side motor from the smacked headlight and although missing one of the retaining lugs from the crash it slotted in and worked.
Took the old one to bits just for curiosity as you do, and it was complety corroded away on the electrical gubbins boards. Great piece of kit though just to move the headlight a few degrees!
Makes you realise how over engineered the old 944/968 models were when you get into them.
Have taken out the rear seats and belts as I have a CS shelf to go in. Have got two in fact but one has speaker holes in. Rear wash wipe next.

You mentioned removing sound deadning felt. A previous owner had a garage fit that stuff all inside the rear of mine. I found the invoice in the history file. It even stretched into the sill area behind the vents in the door opening so blocking any air circulation! Its gone now but it's left a hairy sticky layer all over the place. If you find a good remover let me know!

Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave,
Glad that your car's coming on. You definitely need those orange wheels tho !
In the mean time, I have a spare sunstrip for a 968 from Rick at Highgate, in Black with red script that is surplus now if you want it. PM me your address and i'll send it to you. When your car is done there is a new polish from Autoglym that is unbelievable on black. As you know i'm in the trade like you, and I have never found a polish like this for the money.
I'm looking for a set of Cup 1's for the 964 if you know of anything ( or Big Dave's collection !!!! )
Post some pics when your car's all done.
Cheers mate
Kev

PM'd that thanks Kev.
Good shout on the polish as was wondering about the black. It does have to go back to the painters though as a few bits not right including the front wing that doesn't want to harden off properly[]

Will be sorted.

Cheers
Dave

Great news Kev, plus it's always nice to hear of a LHD car going back to mainland Europe. Good luck with the 964, I quite fancy one of those myself when it's time to change.
