Sad day but there always comes a time to sell a car and I got an offer I could not refuse really!

mine was a late 98 C2 with the GT3 aero kit, wheels, sports suspension, sports exhaust uprated chassis and tonnes of options with the full carbon pack. also let it go with the 911 plate.

I ended up getting 28k for the car with the new owner paying for the warranty so I was well chuffed as it is nearly 29k with all that paid up. it was a good car with only 2 owners, full history, bags of options like I said and it went so well. engine was just getting warmed up!!

I don't really get attahced to cars and see them as ever depreciating assets so I might put some cash into housing but I can't survive without a good motor! the car was due a full set of tyres in a few thousand miles so it all adds up.

it had just had new front rads and a full ignition system from OPC warranty so up to scratch.

so what to do next??
M3 CSL
ring toy plus s3 run around or sth similar
get into property for a while?

will keep you posted for sure!

Just changed mine for a CSL - and I'm absolutely amazed with the capability of the CSL. I thought that I would never get rid of the Porsche having longed for one since I was a child, but it wasn't really up to job when it came to the track - where the M3 just runs rings around a 996 - it even gives a GT3 a damn good run for their money.
If you had asked me 6 months ago if I would change my Porsche for a BMW I would have laughed at you - but the increasing fragility of the 996 made my mind up for me.
I'm sure I will be back in Porsche soon - but for the time being I will enjoy the glorious induction noise from the CSL.
Try to get a test drive in one if you can - you will soon be reaching for the cheque book !!

Really? I suppose this *could* happen if the GT3 was being driven by a complete muppet! I've raced a GT3 against two CSL's in the Britcar and they cannot get close - I've owned a CSL and two GT3's - the GT3 has infinitely better mid corner poise, better flat cornering, better turn in, infinitely better braking - you name it.

Don't get me wrong the CSL is an awesome BMW but GT3 eater it ain't!

Never said it was a "GT3 eater" - I said it would give it "a good run for their money" You are absolutely right about the brakes though - they are fine for the road, but soon give up on the track. I'm going to turn some bells and mount an AP 380mm rotor on the front - that should sort it, then I'll race you round Donnington if you're up for it one day?

Top Gear Lap times

GT3 1 min 27.2 secs
CSL 1 min 28.0 secs

It is definitely quicker, but not by a huge margin.
