Chaps,

It was a very sad day yesterday. My 996 was picked up by it's new owner....

I have loved owning a 911 and I know it will not be TOO long before I own an other, but for the next year or two I will have to join the rat race in a BMW (please don't throw stones at me!).

Thank you all for being so friendly, helpful and entertaining. I managed to get to a couple of the PCGB meets; Tunnel Run OPC East London, the Goodwood Deutche Marques day and the ProDrive Driver Training Day.

I'll keep an ear to the ground and if anyone needs help or advice I'll glady help.

Looking forward to my return to Porsche ownership.

Cheers

Sad day. [&o] [&o]

We've enjoyed your company on the forum, and hope it won't be too long before you are back in a Porsche.

All the best

Richard

Hi Paul. I hope that you got what you wanted for her! I'm going to sell mind soon too - wait for the crash (circa 1 to 3 months from now) and then get another one next year - 997 hopefully!
Adrian.

Paul,

good luck with the BMW, the 535d is an awesome motor, I went down the same route 2years ago, traded my Boxster S for the 535d because of work commitments. The day it went I was gutted and knew I had to be back.

After 12 months managed to convince my wife to swap her TT for the 911 we have now, she hates driving it though because its too noisy (PSE) so hence the the 535 is going and in its place...........all will be revealed soon. its a surprise for her birthday.

I have been without mine for about six weeks now and it is worse than I thought. I chugg along in the Freelander and its boring as hell. Still waiting for an elusive Turbo to pop up.

So far no one has chucked rocks at me!

Adrian,
What crash??

Hi Tim. The market crash. I don't want to get into any sort of debate about this here, but the unsubstantiated loans in the U.S. will probably take effect here in earnest by the end of this month. This will lead to a fall in the F.T. index. Interest rates will probably rise again in November and maybe again in Feb 2008 as, doubtless, people will continue to spend for Christmas on credit - B of E will have to attempt to stop this by raising interest rates again. There's every chance that we could be at 7% or even higher by this time next year. People may say that this is still nowhere near as high as 1989 (circa. 14%) but it IS high when you consider how much money people now owe for their homes. It'll then hit the fan when the peoples' fixed mortgage deals start to end and they're at the mercy of the prevailing rates of interest.
I'm not suggesting that this will stop the sale of cars like we own - but it will certainly have a negative effect. It can also be argued that some may have to off-load their toys in order to pay for more essential items - like somewhere to live. So I hope to get a good (private) deal then.
In short; it's been far too easy for far too long to borrow money to buy ridiculous items like cars - some with only two seats - and it's about time some people stopped wrecking our economy and raising interest rates by doing so. Ok. Rant over.

Couldn't do without mine now.

During the week I'm driving a KA!!!!!, but each weekend when i get in my 911 boy does it seem good !!!!! :)

obviously sell the house first[:D]
after all whats more important-a nice sports car or a home, for goodness sake where are your values man

Hi Dylan. If I do manage to get a 997 I'd like to try a darker colour - darker than Seal Grey anyway. Are you pleased with Atlas Grey? Does it show the dirt as much as black? Adrian.

adrian
i am thrilled with atlas grey and would certainly spec it again
it is much easier than black to keep clean but still shows dirt etc which is why i have had it zymoled 3 times over the year-each having 4-5 coats (every 3-4 months)-that way a quick baby shampoo and its as good as new[:D]

Hi Dylan. Do you really mean Baby Shampoo? I've heard that it can be used - seems to make sense to me as it is obviously very mild, gentle and won't sting your headlights. I'm using "Car Lack" from Germany at the moment - but I think that it might be washing my P21S off! Which really P21Ses me off! Ok, I think that I'd better not digress this thread any more! Adrian.
