Some B****rd clayed my car yesterday!

And I am that B****rd [:D]

Not remotely 944 specific, but......

I've used Carnauba wax for years, but it's no use for tar spot removal etc. Finally got myself some Meguiars "Quik Clay" the other day and attacked the 944 yesterday. It claims (on the packaging) to make your paint as smoothe as glass - drawing tree sap, tar spots etc into the clay.

Well...... ooh it works a treat. Exept on the painted Wurth undeseal bits, but I will forgive it that.

Spent "some time" (maybe 2hrs) claying the whole car, another 20 mins doing a paint-cleanse (not really necessary after the clay, but I'd bought it and wanted to try it), and followed up with a layer of carnauba (which only took 20mins due to all the previous work).

My paintwork is now........as smoothe as glass. Which is nice.

I shall take a pic and post it. [8D]

It's shinier than that [;)]

You really need to feel it to appreciate it though. Send me one of your fingers - I shall rub it on the car and post it back to you.

Forgot to say - was slightly dubious that the clay would be mildly abrasive - but the fact that there was no residue seems to confirm that it isn't.

I have to say that does look clean.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I finally got the petrol stains off my back wing on Wednesday (with a J-cloth and red T-Cut - I know how to treat matallic paint, me). They'd only been on since Oulton in October...[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

That either suggests that the filler cap leaks (do they?) or you are cr*p at filling it [;)]

clay is the stuff of dreams haha.

I love using it on my car the shine it brings up is just outstanding on an 18 year old car. It continues to amaze me how good the porsche paint is

Even makes the garage look whiter than white.... [:D]

Very nice, but then I always new Alpine worked well ... see here...

The "Quik Clay" kit, and the "Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner" only came to about £20 including delivery. Reckon I've used approx 25% of the clay & associated spray in this session, and just a smidge of the paint cleaner.

Cheers Mik,

Despite navigating the worst Flash site since the late 90's, I've managed to order some - I've already got some One Grand Omega Glaze and Blitz Wax to finish it off, so it looks like I will be spending the last week of my Paternity leave polishing (beats changing nappies!!)

Does anyone fancy a comparison test?
Fifth gear featured a guy who does a 70 stage cleaning process a few weks ago, looked fairly impressive.
I think the starting price was around £5k, any volunteers?

Does Zymol HD Cleanse achieve the same results? According to the marketting bumf it also removes tar and smoothes the paint whilst leaving a tacky surface for the wax to adhere to.

[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I find HD Clense smells and looks nice, but is far too mild to be of much actual use. If I clay* I still use HD Clense, but I don't notice much difference for doing it.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]*Not that I have clayed any of my current cars ever, but I have done other cars in the past.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
