Sorry got a few daft questions .

The trip meter on am oval dash 944 , is it possible to reset it? If it is, how?

the two slides between the fan knob and hot cold knob . What are they supposed to do?

and last but not least and not so stupid or easy to answer , but any suggestions as to why i can only get got air out of the blower ?

The middle slat on the furthest right section of heater vent is actually your secret, hidden, trip meter reset button. Make sure you only ever press it when the car is stationary though"”resetting while the car is moving strips the tiny little plastic gears inside.

The two sliders adjust how much of your air comes out of the dash vents (top slider) and footwell vents (bottom slider).

Can't help with your last point I'm afraid, but I'm sure someone else will be able to.

Not sure about the first two but only hot air from the blower suggests the cable to the flow restrictor valve or the valve itself is wrong. It controls how much of the engine coolant flows through the heat exchanger that heats the cabin air. If the air is permanently warm it means the valve wont close for some reason.
