Some Pictures

Wow! I've just spent ages trying to upload some pictures following Alex's instructions. I hope it works. These were taken last week during a brief spell of fine weather. The car was bought in November 07. C2S cabrio with powerkit, in Atlas Grey. I just need to know how to create an avatar now.

Cheers, Critch.

gotta say thats a cracking looking car. makes me think that maybe i shud have bought a cabriolet when i got my 997s although a slight consideration was the slightly forward rear seats and that if the kids ever get in the back they wud only moan that it was too windy!!!!!

Looks lovely, just now get some Zymol on it to stop stone chips

....and some people actually believe that?

You need something like Ventureshield to have any hope of keeping the bodywork free of pock marks and stone chips. Unless you can get a half inch thick layer of Zymol wax spread evenly over the car and don't go over 15 mph.

lovely colour[:D](unbiased!)

and 6-7 coats of zymol has worked so far....not wishing to tempt fate

I have to say I think you've just saved me the job of spending ages on the configurator, what an awesome looking car! Will have to reconsider my black on black wheels.

Thanks for all the positive comments. Yes, I'm pleased with the spec of the car, including the colour. Atlas Grey seems to change depending on the light - sometimes it is just 'grey' but in sunlight it can be blue or even purple. I'm also now glad I've got the turbo wheels after initial reservations (not my choice - already on the car) but they are the devil to clean!

Still under 3k miles on the clock so not tested the full capability of the X51 option yet!

For anyone interested, the car came without a phone module so I've just had the Nav-TV 'Tooki' bluetooth module fitted. This integrates seamlessly with the PCM and uses the screen, the key pad and the call buttons - works great - better than the Porsche phone module I had in my boxster and no messing about swapping SIM cards. £587 fitted by Safe and Sound, Queensferry, Flintshire.

Alex, Thanks for your very clear instructions on posting pics. But how do I now get the a photo to the right size to put up an avatar? I've tried resizing using photobucket and downloadng the reduced file to my hard drive. But when I try to upload the file as an avatar I just get the report "file too big", even though its only about 140 x 80 pixels. What am I doing wrong?

critch, file size too big also relates to the size of the actaul file in kb not just the pixel size.

Avatars are a different story. I think the PCGB avatars can be either downloaded from your PC or downloaded from a web address. They are not dynamically linked to the remote web address.

Therefore you need to shrink down some more, you need to get to (145 X 145) Max. 20KB;

My avatar for example is: 145x89 px and 12KB

I would just use the image resizer tool mentioned in my other post to set a custom 145x145 size and then see if it is under 20KB. If not then you will need to go smaller. Then upload from your PC (not Photobucket).
