Some questions on the 930

Hi all,

I havent posted for some time but have some more things to do on the '85 930. I've got a few questions which someone might be able to answer for me (hopefully!).

Q1) I have no idea why I have this hanging down from below my ashtray but it does have a light on the end of it. It lights when the headlight switch is operated.
Take a look at the image I have uploaded. The round connector on the left hand wire holds the bulb. The right hand wire has a connector too but this doesnt go anywhere at all. Has the light fallen down from somewhere? I dont really know where it goes, lol.

Q2) My headlight washers arent working and its time to fix them. If I operate the switch (with the lights on of course) I can hear a relay energising and de-energising as I let go of the switch. I think the pump motor has died and want to get at it to take a look. I cant see the pump through the wheelarch as its set behind the mounting bracket too far. Is there a way to see this from the front of the bumper, ie, behind the front indicator in the bumper?
If not what is the method used to remove the bulky reservoir?

3) I also notice that it appears that there is what appears to be another reservoir situated above the main washer reservoir. At least I think its another one. Can someone enlighten me as to its use if it even is a reservoir (I thought it might be an intensive reservoir but I dont think I have that on this car.

4) I also need a couple of air pipes which go from the LHS footwell blower. Can these be sourced and can any air pipe suffice. I think the part numbers are as follows; 911-573-115-00 and also 914-572-123-10
These part numbers were taken off Pelican Parts website but one of them was for an 86- car and I have the 1985.

Any help appreciated.

Chris

Hello again,

Just to go with the above post I thought I'd add the problem I have with the air pipes. The image below shows the missing pipe and the broken pipe. I believe the missing one (in left hand image) goes to the "empty" hole (in the right hand image). is this correct?

Thanks again for any help.

Chris

Dont know about the heater pipes but the light bulb is probably for the heater slider. There is a bulb at each end from what I remember on mine - feel around you will find a round hole that it slots into.

Its like being back at Gaenocology school.

Aha!! I think I have a result on the connectors in the picture I posted.

I have found several connectors tucked away which all house small 12v 1.2w Bulbs. Most of the ones I have found do go behind the heater control panel. The one on the right hand side in the picture I think is the ashtray light. The actual fitment is missing so the connector has no place to fit into. I do see where it is supposed to go now and have bought the light housing (fits in hole above ashtray!).

Having diagrams etc and the internet makes things easier to fathom out.

This will be another job done when the part arrives.

Chris.

P.S. Ordered new headlight washer pump too so that'll fix that at the same time.

Euro car parts isa good source for the heater hose and not to expensive also its the original rubber style stuff

I have a Euro Car Parts store a couple of miles away from me but when I check online they dont seem to actually hold much.

The pipes I require arent the rubber ones. I require what appears to be an alluminium pipe and also a nylon / plastic pipe as in the above pictures. I'll find them from somewhere.

Cheers

Just thought I'd update this thread with the fact that I have now fixed my headlight washer pump problem. It was the pump which was basically shot. When I removed it the top half broke away from the bottom half!

Replaced it with a new one, renewed a jubilee clip which had snaped and all works fine.

The pump squirts a very strong jet to the headlights for a second or so (one press of rocker switch = one squirt of washer fluid).

Also, added some new bulbs to the dangling wires in the above pics. The ashtray light mounting is on its way over from America!

Been a good day today for the car [:D]
