Sorry but you'll have to forgive my enthusiasm of posting these. I haven't had a lot of time at the track lately so just a little bit buzzed still. Pity we can't load more than one pic per post. Paul, can this be changed?

3. This guy in the EVO was very fast. Running slicks, 4wd, cage, and 2 bar on race fuel. Fairly rapid don't you know![:D]

Great pics, lovely looking car looks like you were having fun! I assume it is your good letter in 911& PW
as well.

It's nice to see some track pics once more [:)] How's the car going and what state of tune is it in at the moment Patrick?

I doubt I'll see any tracks until next summer [&o] so keep posting yours whenever you go.

That's funny Peter, I did send a letter after that article they did a few issues ago, but didn't see any response from them so I can only assume they've published it in the latest issue that isn't out here yet? What month btw Peter, I'll look out for it. That article did incense me somewhat. The writer almost patently called the turbo rubbish. I won't stand for that![:)]
Thanks for the compliments. Even with the 2.5L stock motor (currently) we can have some fun.

This is a refreshed 2.5L stock engine from an '86 with a VR stage 5 kit so a bit laggy but with the shorter final drive ratio of the S2 cw&p, it makes it driveable. Boosting to 1.3-4 bar. Probably about 300whp I'm guessing.
Paul I look forward to your new clutch going in and what your findings are. How long now?

Hey Pat.
Your car looks REALY well , what with the new headlights , the vented badge panel + the wheels....
The 3rd pic you posted. If i didnt know you were in Aussie. Idve sworne it was at one of our UK track, Looks just like Cascades corner at Oulton Park...[:D][:D][:D]
Keep up the good work...

Thanks Dave. I'd love to be over in the UK to drive at some of those great tracks that you have and then pop over to the 'Ring for a jaunt.[:)]
How's your project going?

Pics of your car make me want to drive mine again, Patrick. Possibly not enough to make it happen, but some all the same.

Fen, as you are well aware these cars can be so much fun and part of that fun I believe is the way they box above their weight and that there is just a general ignorance of them and their qualities. When you come up against much more modern vehicles like EVOs, WRXys, Lotii, Astons, and of course expensive rear engine Porsches and give a great account of you and your car, sometimes handing them a damned good thrashing, well I find that all part of the charm. I am patently guilty of falling way too much into the mod trap, but I'm here now so be it. The stockmarket has killed me, but you only live once so all in all, I think you should resurrect the Beasty and get her ripping up some of those fantastic Kiwi roads. I still have in the back of my mind the strong desire to get my car on a boat over there for a driving holiday. Once the world settles down I might just see you over there for a bit of a jaunt.
Oh, and if you get over here next year, you're welcome to come out and have a drive of mine. Just bring any racing licence you might have, but I'd check into this first for you.

That's quite an offer Patrick; one I don't know I'd be comfortable taking you up on, but I'm definitely like to have a passenger lap or two if that worked in, and we have to make it across the ditch sooner rather than later.

If I do ship my car here I doubt I'd register it for the road - I'd struggle to get it out of the drive without grounding - but it would be fun to make it a 100% dedicated track slag.

Seems almost like there's more of a transaxle scene in NZ than in OZ. As evidenced by the entry list in the Targa. I'm only surprised at the lack of 968s as I've seen a few of them in Kiwiland in the past. If you're really planning on spending quite a few years in NZ I think you really should consider shifting your car down and having a play with it. Or you could buy my spare Black '86 if I don't use that for the trackcar.
As for driving my car, no problems. I'm not precious with it. I'm sure you can drive too. We can't take people for hotlaps unfortunately, unless you've got a high enough ranked race licence to teach, so to speak. Anyway, we'll figure something out and the flight's only 4 hours or so. Come over in about March for a few days. Not quite the blistering heat of mid Summer. The 3L will be in and sorted by then too. E85 w 25psi might be interesting. We may yet show you a 951 that feels remotely fast for your jaded soul. [:D]

Well whenever you think you might come over, let me know and I'll see what we can do to get you on the track.

Thanks Tony. It's a work in progress.

Do you guys need some sort of special license to do a trackday down under? I am guessing you do from Patricks comments, but we are fine on our road license because UK trackdays are totally non competitive, non timed and basically supposed to be fun without a speed limit [:)]

Our motoracing body C.A.M.S. is very strict. Even though we have trackdays that are the same as you describe Paul, we still have to have one of their basic licenses. I think you do it pretty much via the internet so no medical needed. However the next level up, you need a medical and keep log books of the car etc, but this is when you actually race competitively. Unfortunately you can't take your mates for hotlaps on the basic trackdays. Too many potential legal issues if something goes wrong. No insurance for your car on the track either although I believe it may be possible to negotiate something with your insurance company but you can only guess how much that would cost for the day. I'd quite like to attain the necessary level to be able to instruct. Maybe at a later stage.
