I was rather surprised at how much grip the car had it even managed to climb past a few stranded fwd. cars on the way home from work.

Slap a pair of 255's on the back, add a Limslip and a Turbot and grip in the snow becomes a thing of the past []

On my way to Norwich Monday befor last at 7:00 am after a drop of snow. I was on the A140 which hadn't been gritted but had runs of clear tarmac with light coveringof snow in the middle of the road etc.. There was an old cap in an Astra doing little more than 20mph follwed by two juggernaughts myself and a Celica. The Juggernaughts overtook the old cap and I followed. At no more than 30mph the Turbo just touched boost and the car went sideways. Fortunately nothing comming the other way (I wouldn't have been overtaking had there been - obviously), and the Celica was far enough back and allowing the twit in the Porsche plenty of room. I let off, allowed the car to gather its self and carried on for 20 or 30 yards only to touch boost again when it went the other way [&o].

Never have this trouble with the Freelander.

Not possible...

Only way around is to combine two or more pictures in Photoshop or similar software

Or you can upload both pictures to your own domain and then reference them from within your posting.

Surely in certain situations the limited slip diff should help with traction, such as when one wheel is on ice and one has grip, (Who mostly played in the Patrol when we had snow) [:)]

But yes on slippy surfaces you are spot on the rear slides sideways as soon as you have boost.[:D][:D]

I did find that the lux lost traction when provoked on an empty boat yard! In fact it did'nt need very much provacation what so ever. Had an awfull lot of fun PRACTISING figure 8's and long ovals. but back on the road I was very happy to have the lux and it's 'tickover' torque.

the LSD should have made the sideways moment more controllable and it should have been easier to hold it sideways, I suppose the main problem is the dollop of power arriving from the Turbo - which is why naturally aspirated is best in slippery conditiona and WRC's have anti-lag devices popping and banging away to avoid it happening with a bang.
Cheers
Bill

And in fact the turbos have a bit less power off boost than the NA's (due to the lower compression ratio) so provided you change gear early it should be better, but on the downside the wide tyres dont help. All have the potential to be very entertaining given enough space to play with.

Unfortunately down here we hardly ever get snow and big empty car parks are few and far between - When I lived in Surrey Chessington World of Adventures coach park was brilliant in the Snow, even the double deckers used to come in and do a handbrake turn or two - amazing but scary to watch.
