Someone's got a cheap Boxster

Dapster

New member
A firend of mine works with the security consultants at Canary Wharf who told him this tale....

Suspicous of a Boxster parked in an underground car park at Canary Wharf for several months without being moved, the security guys eventually traced it via DVLA to an owner. The owner could not be contacted so they managed to find his employer - a US investment bank. It eventually transpired that the owner had moved back to New York and forgotten he had left his Boxster behind! (and this isn't even the punchline....).

When asked what he ws going to do with the car he replied "er...just sell it for me and send me the money". Eventually the car was sold at auction (apparently it was a couple of years old and one would suspect with only a handful of miles) and he was eventually sent a cheque for....wait for it.... £8,000! []

Someone has either got a bargain, or there is someone out there with a tidy little margin!

He obviously has enough cash to not even remember he owned one, so to him the 8k would have been a bit of a windfall, and he probably spent it on buying a few rounds of bubbly over the weekend!
And I'm sure his 'friend' that sold it for him didn't give it away for 8k, he probably sold it to a dealer and kept the rest......every child wins a prize!

Which is nice.

I've been to several car auctions, and there is no way in hell it would have sold for that little, you may get a3- 4k discount to market price at best, but thats all.
