Something new to me...

Hi guys

I spotted this a few weeks ago on one of the 944 FB pages, never seen it before and just had to get one. It's the Porsche calendar coin for 1986 featuring the 944 Turbo, perfect for my car. Now I'm not a coin fan/collector but thought that this would make a great keyring for my car keys. Sorry to anyone who thinks this is sacrilege...although these are rare they've not valuable...well not this era...yet!

When I get time I'll mark out and drill a hole for the ring to fit, the coin is about the size of a sovereign... should look great...;)

I am currently assembling a 1:24 Hasegawa kit of a very early 944 turbo. It's LHD and the box is marked 1986 so it must have been based on the very first of them. The attention to detail is remarkable. It has tele's on P7 Cinturato's. I have so far assembled the engine which includes the turbocharger, all exhaust crossovers, oil filter, AOS, intercooler including pipes, fuel rail including pipes, starter motor, all belts and pumps, manifolds, airbox, and more I've missed! About 40 bits so far alone!

I have that kit Stuart, built it many years ago...it is a very good kit. mine is converted to RHD..the dash pattern was done by a good friend of mine who also had a 951...3 of us used to all have red 951's. I still have 2 more untouched 1/24th kits given to me by one of the 3 mentioned, he got hold of some extra parts to build it like his car. IIRC, this included new wheels/tyres, bridge spoiler plus other goodies.
Here's a picture of the 3 of us when working at Pinewood Studio's on IIRC 'Bond' film, 'The World is not Enough' I'm on the left, in the middle is Rob with the later car, with Greg on the right who made the dash pattern ...fond memories...:)

Amazing Pete! I would love one with RHD, CS wheels, bridge spoiler.....and of course no sunroof! While we're at it get me 4 x Toyo T1-R's for it as well and a CS steering wheel! I already have the zermatt paint [:)]

something like this Stuart...:)

My friend had CS wheels which I remember him buying while working on that movie, he searched other model cars to find wheels and tyres that were a close match. Picture shows how successful he was with this search. I said the kits were untouched but forgot that for this one he cut off the moulded spoiler to check the fit of the bridge type he found. I've laid the spoiler roughly in place, it's a pretty good fit.

The other car is a Turbo 'cup', this one is untouched, both have resin RHD dash's cast in resin. Greg also made a pattern for sports seats but I never took this from him as I had no need of it for my build.

well, I'm open to offers on either kit...I don't really do the posting stuff so it would have to be a case of meeting up somewhere. I doubt that I would find the time to make them myself....still building a bloody big steam loco...:)

Pete

I reckon we are about 400 miles apart Pete! We'd need to meet somewhere like Manchester to make it fair! Any excuse for a drive! [8D]

haha...as much as I love driving my car...such a distance does not appeal at this time of year, especially when I have no heat in the car...:)

If you can make the next Sunday we do then I can help out and sort the posting

sort it out and let me know, I don’t have a post office phobia

Hi Richard

The box art is shown in the last picture..

thanks for the offer Waylander, if push came to shove I'm sure that I could work something out although sorting payment won't be as easy as a meet in person.

cheers

Pete

I'd be happy to paypal Martin pre meet up to cover post and purchase price if that works. PM me about price please Pete. [:)]

I seem to recall your turbo model was nothing short of stunning Pete... Surely this thread is reason enough to share a few photos on that too?
On a slightly smaller scaled Jon Simms 3d printed me a 1/32 scale 944 body to go Scalextric racing with... Now my 3d printer has improved a bit I must have a go at printing out another on in the right colour! 944 Scalextric Cup race series anyone?!
As for the photo of the three turbos, I have another one I could add to the set - where are the other two now?

Thanks for the kind words on my model Tref...alas I can't find the file with the image in, I guess it was shared on this forum too, but no idea where/when....

Stuart, I have a Paypal account...I'll see how much Parcelforce costs and PM you with a suggested price....

regards

Pete
