Something old, this way comes...

When I were a lad, well, 20 something, Porsche produced a car which I fell in love with. Now, after a rush of Guards Red to the head, one of those splendid beasts has found it's way into the Tscaptain home. I still adore the shape of this car and this particular individual has been very well looked after but is in need of some external tlc. Mechanically and electrically (everything works!) it's a gem and maybe, just for a change, I may have a car that will go up in value instead of down. Now there's a novelty![;)] I love my flat 6 but this V8 is a little beauty. Photos from the ad - better ones to follow.[;)] S4, 1989 - love it!

Very clean. You are lucky everything works. Even the tailgate release. ??...
Even the tailgate release - from both sides! (why did they put one on the passenger side too?) The two previous owners appear to have been quite fastidious in keeping everything up to scratch. I was amazed that every single switch, sunroof, mirrors, memory seats, rear wiper operates as it should. The only question mark, and I understand this is a common fault, is the TPMS which seems to think that 3 of the 4 tyres have lost pressure! I have read that many have the system disconnected as it can be a pain in the rear and, indeed, Porsche themselves removed it on later cars!
I also has the RMB so it's sounds pretty cool too. I have the original rear box - which looks as new - should I find it too noisy. There are a couple of small body areas that need to be tidied up and then a full blown detail by my favourite chap in Bristol should get it looking like new.[:)]

So, over the last few weeks she has been in for a little bit of paintwork and some new dampers - uprated to Bilstein. They haven't quite got the ride height sorted yet - a bit high at the front - so going back in a few weeks when everything has settled down. However, just back from detailing.... so here are the pics!! Get your sunglasses ready[:)]

That's better than when it was new!

My first real "Porsche" experience was my Dad showing me a Gold 928 with the reg THE 928S, and telling me to poke the rear bumper. I'd have been 12, and given that his Austin Princess seemed so futuristic you can imagine what I thought of the 928. Imagine how I felt when the bumper was soft and absorbant, and you could punch or kick it and it just sprung back in to place!

I still think the 928 is the second most iconic Porsche shape. :)

Indeed so Paul, second to my 997 turbo
[;)]

I think you deliberately misunderstood me there.... :)

I meant the other iconic Porsche shape. Where front-engined power meets perfectly balanced RWD, in a compact 2+2 body.

That's the car, not me of course...
